about me
I am Kait Dieppa, a NYC based actress, dancer, singer and director.
A true city kid, I grew up surrounded by the best pizza, Italian ices, Central park walks, and of course, theatre. I was drawn from an early age to the world of performing and began singing when I was just nine years old. I began dancing even earlier as some of my first childhood memories are of my grandfather and I dancing merengue and salsa together in the kitchen (he was insistent on making sure I learned the dances he fondly remembered from home in Puerto Rico) and I am forever grateful to him for that.
Growing up in NY and having gone to high school in Hell’s Kitchen, I have always been inspired by the vibrant energy and lively spirits of those around me. I credit NYC’s diverse environments and it’s amazingly creative people for making me the artist I am today. It has made me approach my daily life as well as every role I enter into with compassion, and a deep curiosity to understand the human condition.
I entered the arts scene through opera at 9 years old and fell in love with music. Throughout middle school I began to connect my musicality to drama and text and suddenly, my life was completely changed. Okay not really, BUT the introduction of musical theatre into my life was pivotal for me. The next 4 years of my life were at the Professional Performing Arts School where not only did I master the MTA subway system with my 2 hour commute, but is where I received excellent musical theatre training at Rosie’s Theater Kids.
I also worked with Roundabout Theatre Company in my high school years where I studied acting technique and collaborated with student playwrights on new works. I fell in love with theatre making and new scripts and was eager to fine tune the ideas we worked on the week before with my fellow actors/ playwrights.
After high school, I attended Marymount Manhattan College where I received my BFA in Musical Theatre and graduated May of 2024. I wore many hats in college, from assistant director, to actor, to intimacy director, to fight captain. I was in 2 Main Stages and many student/ studio productions at MMC. It’s quite hard to pin down my type considering my two favorite roles are so opposite (Val in A Chorus Line and Nancy Reagan in First Daughter Suite). Talk about range! A quirky engenue with heart and some grit, I love to explore the inner workings of characters who may front a certain poised persona on the outside, but are deeply complex and determined on the inside. My role as director has helped inform my work as an actor in many ways too and you can check out more about my directing experience at the top tab of this page! Since graduating, I have built quite the love for film acting. My most recent project was a lead inmy first feature film, which will premiering in August. Be sure to check in soon for more!
